            An advanced beginner's dressmaking class

An exciting new advanced beginner's sewing class for the autumn, run by Rosie Martin of

Before attending this workshop you must be sewing machine confident, if not then take one of our half day beginner sewing classes beforehand

Those attending this workshop will learn how to make a simple, pleated skirt without using a sewing pattern. They will learn how to measure and cut the pieces, insert a zip, create pleats and a hem.

The pleated skirt is a versatile garment that fastens at the side with a zip.  It can be made as a mini, a midi or a maxi, with chunky box pleats, ironed-in accordian pleats or delicate little folds for a gathered appearance. It has a waistband that can be big and bold or slim and trim.

Those attending the workshop will not only go away with their very own skirt, made just the way they want it, but the skills and confidence to create an elegant garment without a sewing pattern
